Back to School Checklist: What You Need to do Before Your First Day Back
The day has come, it’s time to go back to school!
If you are looking for some ways to make the start of this term the best one ever, here is our back to school checklist that will make day one a breeze.
1. Make sure all of your holiday school work is complete
Don’t be the person who turns up at school in the morning only to be reminded by a friend that you had a big assignment you were supposed to work on over the holidays. It is definitely not a nice feeling and also quite a stressful way to start off the term.
Have a look through your school planner or notes to make sure you have completed all of the required work. If you are having trouble remembering those final few days of the last term, shoot a friend a quick message to double check.
2. Get organised!
Another way to start off the new term well is to be fully prepared by the night before.
Some of our tips for getting organised the night before include laying out every item of your school uniform and packing your school bag.
3. Get used to waking up early
For a lot of people, the hardest part of going back to school each term is re-adjusting to the early morning wake up calls. If you loooove your sleep-ins during the holidays, it might be a good idea for you to slowly ease back into that early morning routine over a few days.
You can do this in increments. Each day before school goes back, wake up half an hour than the day before. This will help you to avoid that horrible shock of hearing the alarm go off at the crack of dawn on your first day back!
4. Write down any important dates into your calendar
To start the new school term off to a great, organised start, make a note of any important dates that will be coming up. These might include any exam periods, assessment dates or school events, like a sports carnival or performance.
5. Think about some goals for the coming term
It is a really good idea to go into a new school term with some personal goals. Have a think about what you are hoping to achieve, what your strengths and weaknesses were last term and how you might improve on them.
Write some goals down so that you can check back in throughout the term.
6. Schedule a catchup with friends before you go back to school
Schedule a fun hangout with your friends BEFORE you go back to school! Catch up with anyone who has been away over the break, or just get everyone together one last time and enjoy yourselves! Even though you will soon be seeing each other in class, it’s a really good idea to end the school holidays on a fun, high note!

☐ Complete all holiday homework
